COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this advanced diploma course, you’ll gain the practical and technical skills to work with civil engineers on the design and construction of infrastructure projects.This course provides a pathway to an engineering degree.
Civil and structural engineering involves the design and construction of roads, airports, railways, buildings, bridges, dams and drainage systems.
You’ll develop skills:
- using computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to produce detailed drawings, plans and designs for construction work
- doing cost estimates and preparing material specifications
- liaising with construction workers and project managers
- inspecting completed works to ensure they meet specifications and regulations
- conducting laboratory and/or field testing of materials, soil and water quality.

Qualification Pathways
After successfully completing the Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design, students may apply for the:
- Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology (Civil Engineering Design)
Note: While ACFE may not offer all the qualifications indicated within the pathway, we identify relevant progression that may be attained.
Course Delivery and Duration
Advanced Diploma in Civil Construction Design will have a face to face mode of delivery with a duration of 104 weeks .Students will need to attend approximately 20 hours of class over a week.
Students are required to complete additional hours of study each week outside of class hours, including private study, research, and assignment preparation.
Due to the impacts of COVID 19 to keep you all safe while studying, some of our face to face classes may be replaced with online and as restrictions ease, the mode of attending class may change.

Entry Requirements
- 18 years or older upon application
- All applicants are required to have successfully completed an LLN test and demonstrate competence for all indicators to enrol for this qualification
For international students, ACFE accepts following proof of a level of English proficiency:
- IELTS Overall 5.5 band (no band below 5.0)
- TOEFL iBT (Internet-based) 69-79 with no band less than 14
- TOEFL Paper 523 (with a min. TWE 3.5)
- TOEFL CBT (Combuted-based) 193 (with a min.TWE 3.5)
- PTE Academic 46 with no communicative skill score less than 40
Note: Some assessment tasks are completed using a computer and internet, and it is essential for the student to possess basic computer skills.
